Prudential has officially launched its global Prudential AI Lab in Singapore, aiming to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), generative AI, and machine learning across its operations.
The launch event, held at Prudential’s Singapore office, was officiated by Mrs Josephine Teo, Singapore’s Minister for Digital Development and Information (MDDI), and Mr Anil Wadhwani, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential plc. Mrs Teo, the Guest-of-Honour, delivered a speech and toured a showcase of AI-driven solutions for healthcare and wealth management.
Since its soft launch in August 2024, the Prudential AI Lab has garnered over 100 AI use case submissions from employees across 24 markets in Asia and Africa. The Lab, developed in collaboration with Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), the Economic Development Board (EDB), and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), is strategically positioned to leverage the city-state’s National AI Strategy and supportive ecosystem.
The initiative is backed by Google Cloud, which is providing Prudential with end-to-end technical support and access to advanced AI tools. The Lab is staffed by AI engineers and data scientists based in Singapore.
Anil Wadhwani, CEO of Prudential plc, highlighted the Lab’s importance in delivering the company’s strategic priorities, stating, “The AI Lab will supercharge the development of exciting applications such as predictive analytics, hyper-personalised customer engagement, and real-time guidance for agents. I believe we are just beginning to explore the vast possibilities and value this technology offers.”

Advancing Healthcare and Financial Advisory
The Lab’s initial focus will be on enhancing consumer access to quality healthcare and driving operational efficiency. AI solutions developed at the Lab are expected to strengthen financial representatives’ advisory capabilities, enabling them to serve customers with greater speed and precision.
Commenting on the choice of Singapore as the Lab’s base, Mr Wadhwani said, “Our partnership with EDB and MAS allows us to tap into Singapore’s rich network of resources and talent from academia, business and government. This collaboration will greatly support our ability to develop innovative solutions that address customer and business challenges.”
MAS echoed the sentiment, with Ms Gillian Tan, Assistant Managing Director (Development and International) and Chief Sustainability Officer, stating, “Prudential’s AI Lab is aligned with Singapore’s Smart Nation 2.0 goal to encourage businesses to utilise AI and technology to raise productivity, transform and serve customers better.”
Building the Next Generation of AI Talent
To nurture AI expertise, the Lab has established partnerships with leading institutions, including the National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University, Republic Polytechnic, and Singapore Polytechnic. Students from these institutions will gain hands-on experience through internships and final-year projects, working on proofs-of-concept for real-world AI applications.
This focus on talent development underscores Prudential’s commitment to fostering a robust AI ecosystem, ensuring long-term innovation and growth in the fields of health and wealth management.
