While the tech world is busy talking about the Google Pixel 9 and Pro XL, let me switch the tempo already by injecting a different review into the mix. It is essential for all devices, except the ones that are not expandable. I am referring to microSD cards, in particular, the EVO Plus.
The one that Samsung shared with me for review has 1 terabyte of storage space. If you are not sure what that means yet, it’s about 10 times the space of the iPhone 15 Pro base model.
What’s so special about it?
- This is the first time that Samsung has released a 1 TB storage option for the EVO Plus microSD range. It makes an excellent choice for mobile gaming consoles, mobile phones, and 4K video recording.
- If you are unfamiliar with the lineup, it’s waterproof, x-ray proof, temperature-proof, magnet-proof, and drop-proof. Essentially, this means that you don’t have to worry about it breaking from common accidents and effects from bad weather.
- The transfer speed can reach up to 160MB/s, allowing you to load a 1 Gigabyte or 1,000 megabytes (MB) file in less than 10 seconds. Thereabout when I tested.
Why should you get it?
I know you must be wondering “It’s just a microSD card.” I agree. I too grab them off the shelves when I need one. But for someone who travels and has started traveling to more exotic places, I need to have peace of mind that moments I capture don’t disappear on me. So, the EVO Plus microSD is a perfect match – waterproof and can deal with extreme weather.
