StarHub and the National University of Singapore (NUS) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to launch Singapore’s first ‘Borderless University’. This ambitious initiative promises to revolutionize education, research, and innovation through ultra-fast, uninterrupted, and borderless connectivity.

The ‘Borderless University’ is set to be powered by Infinite Technology, leveraging StarHub’s cutting-edge Enterprise 5G and their multi-cloud solution, Cloud Infinity. This partnership with NUS Information Technology (NUS IT) aims to elevate students’ learning experiences using Enterprise 5G for teaching and research.

What’s in Store for NUS?

  1. Ultra-Fast, Low-Latency Connections: Experience seamless virtual and augmented reality applications and real-time data analytics.
  2. Dedicated Private Network: A private dedicated data network by StarHub ensures robust, lag-free connectivity across Singapore.
  3. eSIM Technology: Forget Wi-Fi logins! eSIM technology allows instant access to NUS’s digital assets and the internet.

Enterprise 5G technology brings ultra-fast, low-latency connections that support cutting-edge applications like virtual reality and real-time data analytics. The backbone of this initiative is a private dedicated data network set up by StarHub for NUS, ensuring lag-free connectivity even with multiple users. With eSIM technology, users can connect directly to NUS’ private 5G network, providing instant access without repeated logins.

The new eSIM technology simplifies the onboarding process for new users at NUS. By eliminating physical SIM cards, students and staff can register and activate their eSIM with a simple QR code scan, getting connected instantly.

A Vision for the Future

At the signing ceremony held at NUS, Tan Shui-Min, NUS Chief Information Technology Officer, and Tan Kit Yong, Head of Enterprise Business Group at StarHub, expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative.

“In line with our DARE+ initiative, the partnership with NUS will not only enhance the learning environment for NUS staff and students, but also set a benchmark for the future of education and offer valuable learnings for other industry applications,” said Tan Kit Yong.

Tan Shui-Min added, “This collaboration with StarHub aligns with our vision for a future-oriented learning environment. Both staff and students will benefit from seamless access to NUS’ resources and the Internet, wherever they are in Singapore; and in the future, overseas, without the need for VPN or other remote access technologies.”
