Tech Data Acquires Orca Technology, Strengthening IT Security Footprint in ANZ

SPTel launches on-demand digital services to accelerate digitalisation for businesses across industry sectors

Singapore Tech Data, a TD SYNNEX Company, has announced its acquisition of Orca Technology Pty Ltd (Orca Tech), an independent value-added distributor specializing in IT security in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). This acquisition, effective immediately, bolsters Tech Data’s IT security capabilities and portfolio.

Orca Tech, recognized as the fourth fastest-growing technology company in Deloitte Technology’s 2020 Fast 50 Australia, offers best-of-breed IT security products in the ANZ market. Founded in 2017 by Martin Christmas and Jack Sabo, Orca Tech excels in sales, technical, and marketing services to resellers.

“We are thrilled to welcome Orca Tech into the Tech Data and TD SYNNEX family. This acquisition expands our IT security portfolio and capabilities, delivering higher value to our customers and partners in ANZ. Orca Tech has built a strong reputation as a trusted IT security specialist and has a proven track record of success. Together, we will create new opportunities for growth and innovation in the fast-growing IT security market,” said Jai-deep Malhotra, President of TD SYNNEX in Asia Pacific & Japan.

The acquisition brings together the technical expertise of both organizations, creating opportunities to synergize their vendor and partner bases. With a focus on security, Orca Tech’s team brings deep technical knowledge, complementing Tech Data ANZ’s existing security competencies. Tech Data will enhance this with hyperscaler marketplaces such as AWS and Microsoft through its StreamOne Ion platform, simplifying the cloud transition for Orca Tech’s vendors and partners. Additionally, Tech Data will offer security and cloud services along with its unique Centre of Excellence environments and Practice Builder toolsets.

“At Orca Tech, we are excited for the new opportunities ahead—from expanding our offerings to existing vendors and partners, to increasing scale that brings new developmental opportunities for employees in both companies,” shared Craig Ashwood, General Manager of Orca Tech. “We believe that the synergies developed from both organizations scaling their know-how and capabilities will benefit the entire IT channel ecosystem across the value chain, from vendors to partners and end-customers.”
