Please note: Free NETS FlashPay card exchange at SimplyGo ticket offices ‘temporarily unavailable’ until further notice
NETS introduces a card exchange program for its FlashPay Card in response to the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) decision to phase out the existing card-based ticketing system for adult commuters. The NETS FlashPay Card, primarily used for instore purchases and motoring, will no longer be compatible with public transport and ticketing machines from 1 June 2024.
What you should know
- From January 19 to July 18, 2024, NETS FlashPay cardholders can exchange their cards at any of the 44 SimplyGo Ticket Offices for a free NETS Prepaid Card.
- The remaining value in the FlashPay Card will be refunded, facilitating a seamless transition for commuters as LTA moves towards account-based ticketing.
- Commuters have the option to switch to the NETS contactless ATM card for transit or continue using NETS FlashPay Card at retail and motoring acceptance points.
“We have partnered with TransitLink to offer convenient locations for NETS FlashPay cardholders who wish to exchange their cards for a free NETS Prepaid Card, an account-based card. This exchange programme is in line with LTA’s move towards account-based ticketing to allow commuters to enjoy a seamless transition. Alternatively, they can switch to the NETS contactless ATM card for their transit needs. Cardholders who use NETS FlashPay Card at retail acceptance points or for their motoring needs can still continue to use the card.”
Lawrence Chan, Group CEO of NETS
NETS’ introduction of the card exchange program aims to support commuters affected by LTA’s ticketing system changes, ensuring a smooth transition with alternatives like the NETS Prepaid Card and contactless ATM card. The initiative aligns with the broader shift towards account-based ticketing, offering flexibility and added features for commuters using NETS services beyond public transport.
