Xero, the global small business platform, and Anthropic have announced a multi-year partnership that will embed Claude’s AI directly into Xero — and bring Xero’s financial data and tools into Claude.ai. The collaboration is aimed at giving small businesses and their accountants real-time financial intelligence, wherever they choose to work.

What the Xero and Anthropic partnership means for SMEs

The deal marks the first time Xero customers will be able to work with their financial data directly inside a major AI platform. Powered by Claude’s advanced reasoning, Xero’s AI superagent JAX (Just Ask Xero) will be able to handle resource-intensive tasks such as analysing revenue and profit performance, tracking real-time cash flow, and identifying unpaid invoices — then suggest actions for business owners to take.

On the other side, users will be able to bring their Xero financial data into Claude.ai for detailed analysis and business planning, combining live financial figures with external market data or business plans to model different scenarios without switching between tools.

Data privacy at the core

In line with Xero’s responsible data commitments, financial data shared between the two platforms will be used solely for the user’s active session. Proprietary business data will never be used to train Claude’s AI models.

“Small businesses and advisors don’t just need data; they need a digital partner that acts on it,” said Diya Jolly, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Xero. “By shifting the admin burden to a team of agents orchestrated by JAX, we’re giving our customers time back and providing them with clarity so they can make informed decisions and focus on the future.”

Chris Ciauri, Managing Director of International at Anthropic, added that the partnership would give small businesses “the kind of financial intelligence that used to require a dedicated analyst or CFO.”

Deeper technical integration

Beyond the product partnership, Xero’s engineering teams will also adopt Claude Code and Cowork internally to accelerate product development — signalling a broader technical commitment to Anthropic’s tooling.

The announcement follows Xero’s earlier collaboration with OpenAI in 2025. Xero says it is pursuing a multi-frontier AI model strategy, using different models for different tasks: OpenAI for web-based search and broad information synthesis, and Anthropic for financial reasoning and agentic workflows.

Claude-powered Insights within Xero and the integration of Xero experiences into Claude.ai are expected to be available in the coming months.
