Singtel’s RE:AI sovereign cloud platform has partnered with Cohesity to launch an AI-powered data security and management service, allowing enterprises to unlock insights from years of archived backup data while keeping sensitive information within Singapore.

The sovereign AI data security service combines RE:AI’s sovereign AI cloud infrastructure with Cohesity’s AI-powered data protection and indexing capabilities. It enables organisations to catalogue and search historical data stored in backup systems, transforming archives into a searchable knowledge base.

Enterprises often store large volumes of documents, emails and system records in backup repositories used primarily for disaster recovery. According to Singtel, these archives are typically difficult for artificial intelligence systems to analyse because many AI tools are designed to work only with active datasets.

By structuring and indexing historical data, the new service enables organisations to query and retrieve information in real time, helping them generate more accurate AI-driven insights using long-term context.

“Enterprise backup data has traditionally been treated as a safeguard for recovery rather than a rich source of intelligence,” said Bill Chang, CEO of Singtel’s Digital InfraCo unit.

“By combining RE:AI’s sovereign AI capabilities with market-leading data security capabilities from Cohesity, enterprises can finally harness historical data that has long remained untapped to generate deeper insights and make faster, more informed decisions. Importantly, they can do this while keeping sensitive information protected and within Singapore’s regulatory environment.”

AI Data Security for Regulated Sectors

The AI data security platform is designed for industries with strict regulatory and compliance requirements, including financial services, healthcare and government.

Beyond data search, the service allows organisations to reconstruct historical information to determine what was known at a specific point in time. This capability can support audits, regulatory reporting and investigations.

The system also strengthens cyber resilience. During ransomware incidents, AI agents can identify compromised systems and isolate affected datasets across backup history, helping organisations accelerate response and recovery.

Expanding Singapore’s Sovereign AI Ecosystem

The partnership also strengthens Singtel’s growing sovereign AI ecosystem. Cohesity will contribute research and development resources to Singtel Digital InfraCo’s Centre of Excellence for Applied AI with NVIDIA, announced earlier in February.

Sanjay Poonen, president and CEO of Cohesity, said the collaboration aims to build AI innovation on a foundation of security and governance.

“The future of AI must be built on a foundation of security and governance. Through our partnership with RE:AI, we are transforming protected enterprise data into a trusted, AI-ready knowledge layer within Singapore’s sovereign cloud environment,” he said.

Industry analysts say sovereign AI infrastructure is becoming increasingly important in Asia as governments and enterprises seek to ensure sensitive data remains within national jurisdictions while adopting generative AI technologies.

Singtel said the sovereign AI data security and management service is available in both single-tenant and multi-tenant configurations, allowing organisations to deploy the platform according to their security and compliance requirements.

The company expects the service to support broader enterprise AI adoption as organisations look to extract value from historical data without compromising privacy or regulatory controls.
