AGIBOT Launches Malaysia Initiative, Part of Asia-Pacific Expansion

AGIBOT, a robotics company specialising in embodied artificial intelligence, has launched a new Asia-Pacific initiative with an event in Malaysia, marking its first major regional move for 2026.

The launch, held at i-City in Selangor, was attended by company executives, Malaysian government representatives, industry partners and media. AGIBOT said the initiative reflects its long-term plans to expand partnerships and commercial deployments across the region.

What is embodied AI?

Embodied artificial intelligence (AI) refers to AI systems that are integrated into physical machines, such as robots, allowing them to sense, move and interact with the real world.

Unlike software-based AI, embodied AI learns through physical experience — such as walking, grasping objects or navigating spaces — enabling robots to operate in real-world environments like factories, hotels and public spaces.

The event also marked the opening of Malaysia’s first AI and Robotics Experience Centre, developed in partnership with property group I-Berhad, the master developer of i-City. The centre is intended to showcase the use of robotics and artificial intelligence in areas such as urban services, hospitality and tourism.

AGIBOT said its robots are designed for deployment in real-world environments, including reception services, industrial manufacturing and logistics. The company did not disclose commercial terms of the partnership.

According to research firm Omdia, AGIBOT ranked first globally in humanoid robot shipments and market share in 2025, based on its General-Purpose Embodied Intelligent Robot 2026 report. The report cited shipments of more than 5,100 units, accounting for 39 per cent of the global market.

“AGIBOT made significant strides in mass production and practical deployment last year,” said Deng Taihua, founder and chief executive of AGIBOT, adding that the Malaysia launch reflects the company’s focus on expanding commercial use of robotics in Asia-Pacific markets.

Malaysia’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Lih Kang officiated the opening of the experience centre.

AGIBOT said it plans to roll out additional initiatives across Asia-Pacific through 2026, working with regional partners to expand the commercial adoption of embodied robotics.
